N.E.T. uses a small device which is taped over the mastoid bone, behind the patients' ears. Then, a carefully programmed series of tiny electrical pulses re-stimulate the production of the body's own natural pain killers, known as Endorphins and Enkephalins in the brain.
For an addict, these naturally produced opiates quickly become depleted, and even replaced, by their drug of addiction, with disastrous effects.
The machine is tiny but it carries some mighty claims:
- SIGNIFICANT REDUCTIONS TO ACUTE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS.
- RAPID REMOVAL OF DRUG CRAVING.
- HIGH RATES OF POST-TREATMENT ABSTINENCE FOR OPIOID DEPENDENT INDIVIDUALS.
If these claims are true, they clearly pose a serious threat to the large pharmaceutical companies and their extremely profitable addiction treatments.
